This 14-day adventure through Brazil takes you from the excitement of Rio Carnival to the wild Amazon Rainforest, the lively streets of Salvador, and the powerful Iguazu Falls. You’ll start in Rio de Janeiro during the country’s most famous festival, explore the lush Amazonian jungle, soak up Afro-Brazilian culture in Salvador, and stand in awe at one of the world’s most spectacular waterfalls. The journey ends in São Paulo—an ideal gateway for continuing your travels through South America. Experience Brazil’s vibrant culture, diverse landscapes, and rich history with a team of expert local Deaf guides fluent in ASL, NZSL, LIBRAS, and IS!
Price is $5,500 USD per person based on two people sharing a room. An additional cost may apply for a solo room.
A non-refundable $500 USD deposit is required to reserve your space.
Full payment is due 90 days before the adventure start date.










Day 1
Meet at our hotel in lively Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Enjoy a welcome dinner with the group. Stay in Rio for 3 nights.
Day 2
Full day tour with a local Deaf guide. Visit the colorful Selarón Steps, Sugarloaf Mountain, and the iconic Christ the Redeemer statue.
Day 3
Morning tour of Rocinha Favela with a local Deaf guide. Learn about the community’s daily life, local culture, and how residents build strong ties and navigate challenges. Dance away the night at the world-famous Carnaval celebration.
Day 4
Free morning in Rio de Janeiro to rest, go swimming, or go exploring on your own. Catch an evening flight to Manaus, the gateway to the Amazon Rainforest. Stay in Manaus overnight.
Day 5
Start our 3-day / 2-night tour of the Amazon. Embark on a journey to our humble lodge in the middle of the rainforest. Go on a boat safari down the Amazon River in search of wildlife. Stay at the lodge for 2 nights.
Day 6
Morning walking tour through the Amazon Rainforest, learning about how local tribes use various natural resources to survive in the rainforest. Rest at the lodge for the afternoon, before embarking on an dusk safari tour in search of night wildlife.
Day 7
Morning visit with a local indigenous tribe, learning about their way of life. Try some local Amazonian fruits. Embark on a journey back to Manaus. Stay in Manaus overnight.
Day 8
Morning flight to Salvador, the heart of Bahia, home to Brazil's Afro-Brazilian community. Rest at our hotel and go swimming at Porto da Barra. Stay in Salvador for 2 nights.
Day 9
Full day tour of Salvador with a local Deaf guide. Visit the historic centre. See the colorful flags at Bonfim. Free time in the afternoon to explore the town on your own.
Day 10
Morning flight to Foz do Iguaçu, a town situated by the majestic Iguazu Falls. Visit the unique "Three Borders Landmark", where Brazil, Argentina, and Paraguay meet. Stay in Iguaçu for 3 nights.
Day 11
Full day walking tour of the Iguazu Falls on the Brazilian side.
Day 12
Full day walking tour of the Iguazu Falls on the Argentine side.
Day 13
Morning flight to São Paulo. Afternoon walking tour of the city with a local Deaf guide. Farewell dinner together.
Day 14
Transfer to São Paulo International Airport (GRU) for your departure flight.

- Deaf Adventures has liability insurance that covers accidents and injuries that occur during our adventures ONLY within New Zealand. This does not cover any adventures overseas, or any personal travel cancellations, postponements, interruptions, or any medical expenses that are not caused by our adventures. For this reason, we highly encourage you to purchase travel insurance (e.g. World Nomads or Travelex).
We understand that sometimes cancellations are unavoidable.
If you cancel at least 90 days before your adventure start date, we will refund you in full (minus the deposit). Cancellations less than 90 days before adventure start date cannot be refunded.
In the event that you need to cancel, please contact us as soon as you can.

Rachel Soudakoff was born and raised in Los Angeles, California in a Deaf family. After traveling to more than 50 countries, she decided to make her favorite country – New Zealand – her home. She has four years of experience of managing and operating trips around the world in sign language. When she’s not traveling, she’s researching hidden gems at her next destination.
